Frequently Asked Questions
How do I begin electrolysis?
You may call, text or email to set up a date and time for a consultation. During your consultation, the IB method, office procedures and any questions you may have will be discussed. A complete medical history is taken in order to consider any hormonal imbalances and current drug therapy.
Is it painful?
At your consultation, a few minutes of electrolysis will be performed to demonstrate what results the process will yield. This will give you a better understanding of electrolysis as different areas of the body have varying degrees of sensitivity. While some people have a high tolerance, others choose to use a topical numbing cream. You can obtain a prescription from your doctor or there are over the counter options. Look for 5% Lidocaine within the product.
How long will it take?
Sessions are performed in as little as 15 minute increments. Your desired result will determine the length of your appointment. The completion of an area is based upon an individual’s unique and natural growth cycle and can take up to a year (in some cases shorter or longer) with treatments every four to six weeks. If for any reason your sessions are interrupted, you will maintain the hair removal that has been achieved up to that point until such circumstances will allow you to continue to completion.
What are the possible side effects?
Normal side effects can include initial redness and mild swelling that subsides fairly quickly. Some individuals may experience tiny pinpoint scabs or light bruising.
Am I a good candidate for Electrolysis?
Yes! Electrolysis can be performed on individuals of all ethnicities, textures of hair, colors of hair and all areas of the body.
